STILL SMALL VOICE

READ: JOHN 12:27-30
“And after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice” (1 Kings 19:12).
Although God speaks through the still small voice, this is not always the case. Sometimes, He could roar like a lion according to Amos 3:8. His voice could come through a thunder (Job 37:5). In our reading, Jesus and the Father were discussing. At a point He asked the Father to glorify His name. When the Father replied, people nearby heard the sound of thunder. God does not speak as one who is intimidated. His voice is full of power. As a child of God, you should resemble your Father even in speech. Jesus speaks with power. As a minister, your message should be backed up by the authority of the Holy Spirit. It should be backed up with power.
According to Psalm 29:7-8, when God speaks, the toughest wood splits. When he speaks, there will be a lot of shaking. When He utters His voice, the flames of fire parts in two. This is so because God is the commander of the universe. He will speak life into every dead or dying situation in your life and family. He will roar and all your enemies will scatter. He will thunder upon everything oppressing you and they will immediately submit to you.
God speaks with force and great power. Why did He speak to Elijah in a still small voice? He did so because the voice of love is not the voice of thunder. To convey love to your wife you will use a low and gentle voice. In John 3:16, God speaks to us with His voice of love. The still small voice is also the voice of peace. When God says to the fearful, ‘Peace be to you,’ it is always with the still small voice. If He thunders the same words to the fearful, it will heighten the fear. The still small voice is the voice of concern, offering to assist the needy (Matthew 8:1-3). It is the voice of compassion and tremendous encouragement. The Lord will speak to you in a still small voice.
MEMORIZE: 1 KINGS 19:12 –And after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
