READ: 2 CORINTHIANS
5:12-17
The king of Syria wanted
to know which of his servants was on the side of the Israelites when his
secrets were constantly revealed. Some people are on the Lord’s side while
others are not. I am on God’s side; what about you? You will know those on
God’s side by their behavior and certain attributes that characterize their
lives. In the Bible, we have examples of Abraham, David and Daniel. In Genesis
14:18-20, Abraham proved to be on God’s side by paying tithes on all he
received. If you are on God’s side, you will pay all your tithes as and when
due without helping Him to spend it. Abraham also proved to be on God’s side by
the unparalleled faith he manifested in God.
David is another example of those on God’s side. He was mad at Goliath and took up the challenge to fight him because Goliath blasphemed the name of the Lord of Hosts. Those on the Lord’s side will do anything and give up anything to protect and defend God’s name. Somebody said many cars are born again but the owners and drivers are not. Take a look at cars and you will find them adorned with beautiful Scriptures and messages. Initially, you would conclude that the owners are born again until you find them beating traffic lights, exceeding speed limits, fighting over a dent on their cars and driving dangerously. Your driving culture speaks volume about who you are. The stickers on the car of a reckless driver will condemn him and tarnish the name of the Lord.
What do people think of you? Do you have a testimony of your faith in Christ Jesus? What kind of life are you living? If you are on God’s side, you will avoid every act capable of tarnishing the name of the One you represent. Daniel is another example. When unbelievers subjected him to a thorough examination, they concluded he was faultless. Can those in your office, school or even church say you are faultless? Daniel was a prayer warrior. He knew prayer was his lifewire to the throne room of God; hence he defied the king’s order not to pray. Some believers hardly pray over their food. They take for granted that it is blessed. But it is when you bless it that it becomes blessed. If you are on the side of the Lord, you will praise and worship Him regularly. When you pray 99% of your prayer time should be spent in worship. If you praise Him for what He has done, He will do more. Are you on God’s side today?
