READ: PSALM 81:11-16
“The haters of the LORD should have submitted
themselves to Him; but their time should have endured for ever” (Psalm 81:15).
From today’s reading, we see several benefits accruing to those who love the Lord. If you love Jesus, He will cause your enemies to surrender voluntarily to you. Everything and everyone who hates God would be compelled by God to surrender to you. Also, you will have the best of provisions and experience daily miracles. How much do you love the Master? May your love increase from today.
Haters of God abound today. Romans 1:30-32 says those who hate God are heading for destruction. Although this largely refers to unbelievers, but surprisingly, quite a number of believers show hatred for God in many ways. Anyone who hates God will end where all haters of God would – hell. Do you hate Jesus? Don’t be too quick to offer an answer. As a believer, you hate Jesus when you deliberately refuse to keep His commandments. According to Mark 7:9 you have rejected His commandment, you have rejected the Lord.
“He that rejects Me, and receives not My words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day” (John 12:48). Do you know that the amount of God’s Word you receive and practice measures your love for God? John 14:21, 23 says the proof of your love for God as well as the seal of God’s unending love for you is your ability to keep His commandments. If you reject God’s Word, you reject the Lord and that strips you of the blessedness of continuing in His love. You tell God you hate Him each time you reject His Word. In fact, every commandment you refuse to obey works against you in judgement. Examine your life. What commandments or instructions from the Lord have you left undone? Arise and do it from today. The extent you obey God’s word shows the extent you love God. How much do you love the Lover of your soul who gave His life to save you from hell, sin and its repercussions?
