LIKE A TYRE

READ: MATTHEW 9:16-17
“But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps” (Matthew 25:4). There are different kinds of liquids and gases known to man. Each of them reacts to their surroundings in different ways. Some are peaceful, friendly and calm. Others are volatile, harsh and always battle ready. The nature of each of these liquids and gases determines the container they are preserved or served in. As a result of this, you have several containers, each of different purposes. One of these containers you can compare human beings with is a tyre. It is made of rubber and has a vacuum which is usually filled with air.
“Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runs out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved” (Matthew 9:17). In today’s reading, our Lord Jesus emphasized the need to use the right container for the appropriate liquid in order to preserve both of them. Can you imagine filling the tyre of a car with fuel instead of air and travelling with it? You can be sure the car and its passengers will be roasted on the way. Both content and container will be lost. Human beings are like the tyre and the Holy Spirit is the air that should fill them up for effective performance. If somebody is filled with demons, liquor, or any other mind-blowing substance, it is comparable with filling the tyre with fuel. Both content and container will be lost. This is why Ephesians 5:18 says, put in the right content – the Holy Spirit, not wine into your body. Are you secretly taking alcoholic beverages and spirits, they will get you roasted. Stop it today.
To use a tyre, it must be full of air and properly gauged. If a tyre is low on air it will automatically reduce its speed. Your speed in progress is slowed down if you are not full of the Holy Ghost. If the air level is very little, as the car runs, it will destroy the tyre. If you are attempting to work for God without being filled with the Spirit, you will harm yourself. If you do not have your tyres filled with air, you will not be able to carry the weight that you should carry. If you want the car to have optimum performance, make sure you gauge it daily before going out. Each time you spend in God’s presence is to gauge your tyre spiritually so that you can withstand any rough terrain or weight. How often do you gauge your tyre? Some tyres are used daily and wear out daily while some are reserved as spares. Which one are you?
