WORTHWHILE CONCERNS

-->
READ: COLOSSIANS 3:14-17
In Luke 5:1-7, after Jesus used Peter’s boat, the Lord asked him to throw his nets into the deep. He did and got his breakthrough. One lesson we learn here is that if Jesus could use Peter’s boat, He can use anybody’s office to His glory. Peter’s boat constituted his office, his business or source of livelihood.
Do you know that beyond your spiritual life, God is interested in your secular work? He is interested in every legitimate profession or career of His children. He wants your business to prosper. He wants you to succeed in your studies. However, the Lord wants you to use your work, profession or school to further the expansion of His kingdom on earth, like Peter. Any profession or work you do that cannot perform this has no meaning. One reason you work where you do presently is so that the light of Jesus can shine through you and attract others to the Master (1 Corinthians 10:31).
The other lesson is that the harvest of souls who were saved and blessed during the teaching of Jesus also generated another harvest. 3 John 2 says “Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as you soul prospers.” The spiritual controls the physical. The level of your physical, material and financial blessing is a function of your spiritual prosperity. The spiritual harvest of souls generated the harvest of fishes for Peter. Whenever you win souls for the Lord, your heart will be flooded with joy. Watch out, before long, certain material or financial blessing will follow.
The question now is: How spiritually rich are you? How many souls have you won for the Lord this year? How much of God’s word do you hide in your heart? How much time do you spend in God’s presence? Your physical prosperity cannot be greater than your spiritual prosperity. Increase your spiritual wealth today. Do you say, I have been doing that but have not received my physical harvest? Rejoice, your harvest will soon break forth on you.
MEMORIZE: 1 CORINTHIANS 10:31 –Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
