READ: 1 CORINTHIANS
15:29-32
“Verily, verily, I say to you, Except a corn
of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abides alone; but if it dies, it
brings forth much fruit” (John 12:24)
One reason the flesh must die, is to make divine partnership possible. Everything you need to make a success of life is in God. If He is with you, you will be a success like Joshua. To do this, you must be in an agreement with Him (Amos 3:3). God is a Spirit while a good part of you is flesh. The two nature – spirit and flesh are parallel lines, hence the flesh must die if God who is Spirit must become your partner (Galatians 5:16-17). If you cannot please God, how can you partner with Him? Some will not fast because of their flesh. If you fail to fast in a time of peace, you are preparing to fast in a time of war.
To what extent have you subdued your flesh? How dead is it? As long as your flesh is alive, it will get in your way and constitute a hindrance to the attainment of your goals, especially spiritual ones. Your flesh becomes angry when it sees some other persons promoted instead of you. One of my sons got a jet and I went to dedicate it. It was in the news. Later, I received a letter from a bishop asking me how I could go and dedicate another person’s jet when I do not have one yet. Do you really rejoice when someone who was ordained deacon the same time with you becomes a pastor while you maintain the status quo? If you struggle with it then your flesh is not dead. You are feeding it fat. Compare how much money you spend on the things of God with what you spend on yourself. Your findings will reveal which of the two is most patronized.
Another reason your flesh must die is because death is the way to life. There is a potential in a seed which will never be revealed until it falls into the ground and dies. When you plant a seed of corn, after about three months, you will harvest about 100 seeds from that single seed. You are alone today but if you allow God to plant you like that seed of corn, in 10 years time, the number of souls that will enter into God’s kingdom will fill a city. Your potentials cannot come out until you allow your flesh to die. If you find it difficult to forgive, it is your flesh: take it to the cross of Jesus Christ by faith. Let it be crucified. Ask God to kill every passion of the flesh that contradicts His Word. Also present areas of weaknesses to God in prayer and fasting. Study and obey the Word daily. Resist every desire of the flesh.

JAMES 4:4 –You adulterers and adulteresses, know you not that the friendship of
the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world
is the enemy of God.
