READ: 1 CORINTHIANS
3:11-15
“For we must all appear before the judgment
seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body,
according to that he has done, whether it be good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10).
After the rapture, Jesus our bridegroom will wed His bride. During the seven years of the wedding feast in the air, and just before returning to earth for the 1000 years of honeymoon. Jesus Christ will summon all of us to His judgement seat for decoration. At this time every bride would have been clothed in their beautiful white bridal gowns made from fine linen (Revelation 19:8). Each bride will have a crown on their heads. There are several other rewards the Lord will give us but before then, the value of our earthly works will be determined.
“Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is” (1 Corinthians 3:13). The works of believers will be tested. One after another in this great audience with everyone starring and listening with rapt attention, we will be summoned. Once a name is called, an angel will bring a very huge container containing all the works the fellow had done from the day he was born again till the day Jesus Christ returned. All we did before we were born again have been forgotten just as the blood of Jesus had already cleansed us.
As the angel brings the container loaded with the individual’s works, it would be made to go through a special fiery compartment into which God’s acceptable standards had been built. Any work that falls below the standard will be burnt. All works of various materials are classed into two groups – durable works which are made of gold, silver and precious stones; and non-durable works which are made up of wood, hay and stubble. If the contents are the nondurable works, as the package goes through fire, it will shrink in size until there is nothing left. But if the contents are made of durable works which cannot be destroyed by fire, the fire will just burn the container but the works will remain. Take a look at your works for the Lord. Can they stand the test of God’s fire? Some produce works that will end up as fuel for the fire. Some produce works that will emerge from the fire. Which destination are your works heading?
