HARVEST OF A DEAD SEED

READ: GENESIS 28:10-17
Jesus Christ was God’s seed of corn that fell into the ground and died. He was God’s best and only seed. After death, through Him God has reaped and is still reaping millions into His kingdom. It is the same principle the Lord Jesus is trying to teach us in John 12:24. You may be alone today but if you completely yield yourself to God and die, God could get a harvest capable of filling a whole city within 10 years.
Take the example of Jacob in our reading. He had a dream in which God promised to bless him. When he woke up, he began to think of how such a blessing can become a reality. But instead of seeking God’s way, he consulted human wisdom and Satan to achieve his dreams. He tried several crooked methods and thought he had succeeded. But one day, he stood face to face with death. In Genesis 32:3-6, he realized that on the day of death all his possessions could not save him like the psalmist of Psalm 49:6-8 discovered. The realities of 1 Timothy 6:6-11 and Job 1:21 also dawned on him. As a result, he saw himself alone with God and wrestled with Him (Genesis 32:24-28). Verse 24 says:
“And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day”. After that wrestling, the man was left alone became a nation. A whole nation was inside of him all the while but it took a face to face meeting with death for the nation to be released. All the potentials for greatness that have been buried in you shall be released in Jesus name.
Another reason your flesh must die is because when somebody dies, the fellow’s main concern is to meet with the Maker at last. When armed robbers are about to be executed and they are asked to make a last wish, they do not request for a new cloth, shoe or food rather, they will ask for a priest to come and pray for them. Why? It is because deep down in every heart there is a knowledge that something awaits you on the other side. Hebrews 9:27 says it is an appointment every one must keep whether they like it or not, irrespective of race, colour, creed, status, sex or age. Are you prepared for this appointment? Paul says ‘I die daily’. You must daily subordinate your flesh to your spirit man. You should ask God to sanctify your heart and totally destroy the nature of sin from your life. Stop exposing yourself to anything than can negatively affect your soul.
Memorize: Genesis 32:24 –And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.
