DETERMINED BY VIOLENCE

READ: 2 KINGS 2:4-9
“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14).
To press is to fight against certain odds, to go against the resistance. Life is about battles. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ you will reach your goal. A youth is someone who is determined to reach his or her goal. I shared this testimony with some brethren in Britain. Over 25 years ago, I went in the company of some brethren to preach the gospel in Oturkpo. After travelling some distance after Ore, we were told that a certain bridge between Oturkpo and Benin had collapsed and there was no way forward. We resolved to go by an alternative route which was completely abandoned. We got to the location where the bridge had been swept away by flood but we did not turn back. Somebody went into the river to pilot our vehicle through. It took us three days but we got to our destination. On arrival, the expectant youths whom we were going to meet were still there, clapping, praising God and still waiting. The church that took off as a result of that trip now has several branches today.
To reach your goal, you must not be easily discouraged. Life is like that trip, full of promises yet clogged with several hindrances. Every spiritual or physical road block to your goal shall be dismantled for you to pass through. You will reach your goal in Jesus name. Do not be dissuaded by distractions and hindrances. Be like Elisha who was a violent youth but did not channel his violence towards destruction of property like some youths do today. Instead, he was violently determined to get the best from God and he got it. Dear youth, where are you channeling your energy and resources to? Where do you hope to derive satisfaction from? There is no satisfaction in premarital sex, drugs, smoking and other anti-social behaviours. Taking that path is a fast track to hell and destruction. God loves you very much. He wants to have a relationship with you. He is the way to real satisfaction and fulfillment. Retrace your steps to the Saviour who loves you so much. He will help pick you up in bits and pieces and make you somebody of note. You can be determined to violently take God’s kingdom, and it shall be so.
MEMORIZE: 2 KINGS 2:10 –And he said, You have asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so to you; but if not, it shall not be so.
