SOUL MANIAC

READ: MARK 14:3-9
“Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keeps the sayings of the prophecy of this book” (Revelation 22:7).
The time is short. Wise believers would maximize the time on their hands to lay up treasures in heaven. Jesus is coming ‘quickly.’ Nobody can tell when it would be. Years back, I attended a meeting in America where a man was asked to speak. He told the audience that his father was a preacher for 50 years. And that when he was dying, all of a sudden he tried to get up but those around prevailed on him to relax on his bed. So they asked him what he wanted and he told them he wanted to go and win one more soul for Jesus. That was his last statement before he died. What is uppermost in your heart will be manifest even at your dying moment. This preacher having caught a revelation of Revelation 22:7; became a soul maniac. Anyone with that heavenly disease becomes a king in heaven.
Another reason the flesh must die is because God’s original plan for the flesh is to an envelope. In Genesis 2:7, God moulded man with sand and imparted His breath and man became a living soul. God is interested in the product of His divine combinations, the soul and not the sand (flesh) which is only an envelope or housing. “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us” (2 Corinthians 4:7). Inside of you dwells treasures – the most important part of you and the Spirit of God. Now the envelope wants to control the treasure. Instead of focusing on the Almighty God to release more of Himself into you, you are focusing on the envelope.
In today’s reading we are told of an alabaster box of ointment. The box is made of clay while the ointment (perfume) inside is precious and most valuable. Until the box was broken, the ointment remained intact. God wants the flesh to die because He is interested in what is inside. Never allow the flesh get in God’s way. When you want to seek God, prayerfully go ahead and refuse to be manipulated by your flesh. If your bed is becoming too comfortable and when you sleep you find it difficult to wake and pray at night, then sleep on the floor. Be hard on your flesh. Let it die. Fast often. Convert the time you spend on television programmes and home videos for study of God’s Word and personal fellowhip with God. Quality personal fellowship with God is fast dying out. For a reader of this Devotional, the Lord is saying the secret of your victory lies in spending quality time alone with God. How dead is your flesh?
MEMORIZE: 2 CORINTHIANS 4:7 –But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
