READ: HEBREWS 11:32-39
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways My ways says the LORD” (Isaiah 55:8).
Those the world regards as stars may be unknown in heaven. One reason for this is that God and man take different views of situations. For instance, human beings see a star in great footballers, boxers, popular film actors and actresses, the affluent, etc. But a star in God’s view is someone who is ready to go into the furnace and shine brighter than the furnace such as Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego. Heaven’s star is someone like Daniel who is so strong in faith that he is able to reduce lions to mere lambs. A star is somebody like Paul and Silas who could still praise God in prison until their praises produced an earthquake.
A star is somebody like David who could trust God to the point of seeing a giant and running forward to accept his challenge. Heaven’s star is someone like the widow who gave her only meal to show her extent of love. Hebrews 11 catalogues the heroes of faith which are heaven’s stars. These stars had some things in common: They were people of faith. They were not ashamed of who they believed but were prepared to go to any length in demonstrating their love for God. They were bold and courageous people who could look death in the eye and persist in their fight. They were unstoppable in their godly quest.
“Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions” (Hebrews 11:33). A look at the lives of Heaven’s stars shows that their faith was tested in different areas so that they could become examples for us to learn from. The real stars are not stars by human definition but those by God’s standards. You too can become star in heaven. To achieve this, you must be prepared to visit the fiery furnace, den of lions, prison etc., for God’s name to be glorified. You must be ready to confront your Goliath. You must be prepared to always give to Jesus and not always get from Him. To achieve stardom is through sacrifice. You too can be victorious over that area you are being tested and you will become celebrated. Every test you pass and every trial you successfully endure moves you closer to heaven’s stardom. Unlike earthly stars, the glory of heavenly stardom is eternal. Whose star are you?
