THE ENEMIES KNOW

READ: 1 SAMUEL 4:1-10
When God has rejected a man, he becomes a security risk. If he was the leader of the church or group, he automatically becomes the ‘Achan’ that will stagnate their progress and hinder their blessings. After God rejected king Saul, he still went into the battle. He thought he could repeat the victories of the past by the presence of the Ark of the Covenant. So they brought the Ark into their midst and shouted so loud that their enemies were afraid. But because God was no longer with the king, He went to whisper to the enemies that it was just an empty shout with them. So the Philistines attacked the Israelites and the latter lost their most valued leaders. They recorded their greatest tragedy in that battle.
It is foolishness to attempt battles when you know God is not with you. You are only calling for defeat. The heathen knows when the power of God is present or not. If after fornicating secretly, you go and join the prayer band to pray, do you think you can fool Satan? The demons who supervised your entry into lust would tell him you fell. Besides, when the enemies –witches, wizards etc. come to you, the normal fire that surrounds you will be nowhere to be found. They know that you have fallen out of grace and therefore out of God’s protection.
Some years ago, a particular Pentecostal pastor who was secretly living in sin went to the hotel with his girl friend. It was business as usual. They were very smart in their sinful enterprise that they concealed their identities and nobody would have suspected. On this fateful day in the hotel room, they were already in the act when the devil struck. Suddenly the preacher passed out. The woman was dead scared and so she raised an alarm. That was how what was covered became exposed. When you allow sin into your life, you destroy your spiritual covering. And when the enemies who have been hitting at you but missing discover, they will jump up and know that their time to hit without missing has come. Secret sin makes you a sitting duck for the enemy’s fire.
MEMORIZE: ECCLESIASTES 10:10 –If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.
