WHY BELIEVERS MAY GO TO HELL

READ: MATTHEW 18:22-35
“But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection; lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway” (1 Corinthians 9:27).
Just as it is possible to be saved, so also it is possible to go to hell after one is saved. In the Bible several reasons are advanced for this. According to Matthew 18:22-35; believers who cannot forgive offenders right from their hearts will be handed over to tormentors to supervise their eternal torture since they cannot pay the debt they owe their Master. Has anyone offended you? Please forgive and immediately release such a person form your heart. Or else fresh sins committed will be retained eternally against you.
“And cast you the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 25:30). In the parable of the talents recorded in Matthew 25:14-30, the reason some servants of the Most High will end up in hell is because of wickedness, slothfulness and inability to add value to God’s kingdom through their talents. If you are wicked to fellow believers, particularly those under you, you are playing with hell. If you are dragging your feet in God’s service you are toying with eternal fire. If you have refused to use the resources the Lord has given to you to profit His kingdom, you will not only loose the reward but may also end up where all other sinners would.
Another reason many believers will go to hell is because they knew their Master’s will, plan or desire but deliberately refused to do it (Matthew 24:45-51). When they were disobeying they probably thought they were getting at their pastor and frustrating him to a point of submission. But in eternity, they will meet the One they frustrated and would receive their eternal sentence from Him. Are you submitting to the revealed will of God which is the Word of God? Do you take pleasure in doing His will or in refusing His will? Even when many will end up in hell, you don’t have to be among them. What is it that can take you to hell? Ask God to help you overcome them today.
MEMORIZE: MATTHEW 18:35 –So likewise shall My heavenly Father do also to you, if you from hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
