EMPOWERED WORDS

READ: 2 KINGS 2:19-22
“And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew or rain these years, but according to my word.” (1 Kings 17:1)
After Elijah made his pronouncement, Heaven was shut. This means that the Holy Spirit can turn the ordinary words we speak into decrees. According to our reading, the Holy Spirit supplies the power to make what you have said comes to pass. Before God spoke, the Holy Spirit moved. The combination of God’s words and the move of the Holy Spirit is what made every pronouncement of God a decree.
A look through the Scriptures reveals that while some said certain things that never came to pass, others made pronouncements which immediately or later came to pass. Those who spoke and it came to pass are those who were filled with the Holy Ghost. This is what Satan mimics through herbalists, but thank God we have the original in Christ. In Joshua 10:12-14, Joshua looked up at the sun and moon and commanded them to stand still and it was so. Some scientists argued that it was the earth, not the sun and moon that stood still. To me this is even a greater miracle which tells me that if it is necessary for the sun, moon or earth to stand still for me to obtain my miracle, it will happen.
Our reading tells us of how Jericho had some bad water which the inhabitants could not drink from. To worsen it, the land was barren, which means that nothing that was sown in it produced a good yield. The case was brought to Elisha and he asked for some salt. He emptied it into the spring of the water and decreed healing. He did not pray. He simply decreed and the water and the land were healed. Do you know you too can begin to rule by decrees? Your word can be empowered into law if only you can be filled with the Holy Spirit, and be very close to Him. The more you feed your spirit man with God’s word, and pray in the spirit, the more powerful your words will be. To do this, you have to set your mouth apart for God’s use.
MEMORIZE: JOB 22:28 –You shall also decree a thing, and it shall be established to you; and the light shall shine upon your ways.
