WHY THIS TEMPTATION?

READ: JOHN 10:7-10
We have looked at how to identify the voice of the devil. Another important thing is to know how to handle it through various situations. There are certain ways you can adequately contain the devil’s voice. One way is to find out the hidden motive behind the request. If Adam and Eve had asked themselves why the serpent was so eager for them to eat the fruit, they would have realised the foolishness of obeying him. They would have rather looked for a stick to strike the serpent. When you ask ‘why’, you unlock the hidden agenda of the devil. Satan will never tell you that. He is a fantastic marketer. He will tell you all the beautiful things you will benefit from taking the steps.
For instance, if the devil comes to a pastor or minister and tells him to fornicate with a member of the church, he will paint it in very attractive colours. He will tell him, go ahead and do it, nobody will ever know. He will promise him the act will be secret, after all. By the time you analyse his hidden motives, you will discover the following: the pastor’s ministry is disturbing Satan’s activities. He hates him so much that he wants his pound of flesh. Satan’s vengeful mission is to break the relationship between the pastor and the Lord.
Also if he can succeed in getting this pastor to obey him, he would loose all his anointing and turn him into an empty barrel. Besides this, the congregation will now hear dead messages and loose their spiritual covering. That simple act would create the possibility of sustaining that sinful relationship. That is, anytime that lady wants him, if he says No, she will threaten to make the affair public.
It will also create possibilities for pregnancy so as to disgrace him and bring problems into his home. His body can be affected by sexually transmitted diseases, especially AIDS, which will lead to untimely death, destruction of his ministry and his vision for life. And he will miss Heaven! The devil who promised secrecy, is the same person that will publicly expose the sin to all who care to know, just to disgrace him. So you see it is more than a five or ten-minutes fling.
MEMORIZE: 1 PETER 5:8 –Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour.
