USING LOVED ONES

READ: GENESIS 16:1-6
In today’s reading, the devil spoke through Sarah saying that Abraham and she could help God fulfil His promise. The devil suggested that Abraham should sleep with Hagar, Sarah’s maid, and they would have a child. The myriad of problems facing the Israelites today is a result of Abraham accepting that satanic offer through Sarah. Abraham easily fell into that trap because Satan used the one he loved dearly.
Satan does not usually speak through a total stranger to you but through your spouse, relations and especially the one who is very close to your heart. Beware. In Job 2:9, Satan used Job’s wife to tell him to curse God and die. In Matthew 16:13-23, Jesus had just commended Peter for receiving a divine revelation on His being the Christ, the Son of the living God, when Satan immediately came to whisper to Peter. Peter started saying, Lord, you will not suffer and die. But Jesus recognised that was Satan’s voice so He rebuked Satan. Be careful, Satan can use believers and unbelievers, especially your loved ones, because he knows that if your love ones ask you to do something for them, you will find it difficult to say ‘No.’
Satan can also speak to you directly through demons. This often occurs during deliverance sessions. The account of Mark 1:22-27 tells us that the demons in the man Jesus met at the synagogue spoke to Him, saying “Let us alone; what have we to do with You, You Jesus of Nazareth? Are You come to destroy us? I know You who You are, the Holy one of God” (verse 24).
Similarly, in the Gadarene demoniac, there was a conversation between Jesus and the 1000 demons in the man. If you engage in deliverance, you will hear the voice of demons challenging your authority and refusing to leave the person. They can tell you great details of their abode in that person, what they had done and their mission there. Through God’s word, faith, prayer and fasting you can deliver the demon-possessed. Henceforth be careful not to heed to the voice of the devil.
MEMORIZE: EPHESIANS 6:11 –Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
