CATEGORIES OF RAIN

READ: MATTHEW 13:31-32
There shall be showers of blessing:
This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Saviour above.
Chorus: Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need;
Mercy drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.
These are lyrics of a popular song. You shall receive your rain of God’s blessings this year in Jesus name. There are three types of rain: the drizzle, the down pour and the heavy downpour. The drizzle is very light and it comes in trickles. The song writer of the above hymn calls this ‘mercy drops’. It is usually for a very short time. The drizzle does not prevent people from going about their normal operations. Most people may not consider using an umbrella during a drizzle. Rather than threaten poverty, it earns mockery. The effects of such a blessing cannot be seen. Within minutes of the rising of the sun, there would be no trace of the rain. Have you been experiencing the drizzle of God’s blessings? After several years of unemployment, you got a job and rejoiced. But today you realise the salary can barely sustain you and your family. A week or two after receiving your salary, you will start borrowing to feed. That is the drizzle. Your needs like the sun has completely dried up its effects. The Lord will move you forward.
The second category is the down pour. It is more intense and its effects last longer. It will take the sun a longer time to dry up the effect. Poverty is threatened by it but not completely overcome. The heavy downpour however is the showers of blessings. Here, all the dams in Heaven are opened and huge mass of water cascade upon you. If you are under this type of rain, within one minute, you will be soaked to your pants and socks. This type produces a flood. It will definitely upset everything else you were doing. This is the greatest dread of poverty and lack. May the fear the spirits of poverty have for you come to pass in Jesus name. This type turns you from being blessed into becoming a channel of blessing to others. If you will be a lender to nations, this is the type of blessing you need. Your beginning may have been small but you will grow to be great. You will attain the level of flourishing which this blessing bestows on recipients. The Lord will truly embarrass you with His blessings. Go ahead and provoke it.
MEMORIZE: 1 KINGS 18:41 –And Elijah said to Ahab, Get you up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.
