PETER 1:3-9
When you
are about to make a trip to a far country where you will spend a few weeks,
months or years, you will definitely make a lot of preparation. You will obtain
your international passport, apply for the visa, purchase a ticket from an
airline and get some money for your upkeep there. A trip to such a foreign
country would pose certain challenges to the traveller. If you are travelling
to France from Nigeria, your naira will be useless there except of course you
go to a bureau of change to convert it into euro.
As a believer you are on your longest journey. A trip from earth to Heaven is pretty long one. Apart from this, you are going to be there for eternity. All you will need to use for your sustenance in that foreign and glorious land should ideally have been prepared before you leave. After earth, all your silver and gold, naira, dollar, pound, yen, euro etc. will be worthless. 1 Timothy 6:7 says, “For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.” All your millions and billions in whatever currency will be useless to you after you die. All your assets and earthly investment in stocks, bonds and others will be of no value to you after death. Some people bury silver and gold with their dead but they become the loot of cemetery thieves. You cannot take one dime with you. Why waste so much time, energy and other resources on your present existence which will soon terminate, whereas no preparation is made for eternity? How prepared are you for the afterlife? If you are not born again, no matter how religious or ‘churchy’ you are, you are heading for eternal hell. This means the things you spent your life struggling for are the things sentencing you to hell. Repent today.
However, there is good news for believers. There is a spiritual bureau of change in God’s kingdom. All you have to do is take your earthly wealth, possessions and assets there and they are converted into Heaven’s currency and reserved in your account in the Bank of Heaven (1 Peter 1:4). Each time you invest in Kingdom-based projects, do God’s will, sow seeds to meet His needs on earth, win souls, happily received persecution for His name’s sake, an equivalent worth of eternal weight of wealth and glory are deposited in your Heavenly account. Unfortunately, some believers’ accounts are in the red. What is you heavenly account like? Work to load your account today?
