TIMOTHY 1:5-7
“Wherefore I put you
in remembrance that you stir up the gift of God, which is in you by the putting
on of my hands.”
(2 Timothy 1:6). Life is a risk. It is like trading. Anytime you trade, you
either make a profit or a loss. Paul splash on the floor and is lost. God has
not given you a fearful spirit. Many Christians are afraid of taking a step
forward. They fear they may not achieve the result they expect, so they hide in
their cocoons. The Lord is saying leave your comfort zone and move forward.
David, after running for a long time, got a safe haven- the cave of Addullam. Saul had not discovered the place yet. There, he had the security of four hundred men. He was already beginning to enjoy himself and relax when he received an emergency call. “And the prophet Gad said to David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get you into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.” (1 Samuel 22:5)
David was already feeling comfortable in the hold. But because he was anointed to be king, not only over four hundred men, but over the whole of Israel, he had to move out. He had to pass through fire to get to the throne. Nobody gets promoted without taking an examination, even though examinations scare people. Thank God for where you are presently. God has a higher, better and more glorious place He is taking you. If you remain where you are, you cannot get to that final destination. Arise and move forward.
Joseph rose from slave to chief steward in Potiphar’s house wielding some level of authority. He was already relaxing and enjoying the respect of that household, but God’s goal for him was the throne of Egypt, so He gave him a kick. Joseph landed in prison. He later bounced from the prison to the throne. That parish you have fought so much to remain in is just another Potiphar’s house. God is taking you to the throne but to get there, you must be prepared to leave for the uncertain place the Lord may be sending you. God may want you to leave your country for some distant land. If you must arrive at the throne, you must be prepared to endure the fire of God’s training and test. He is by your side. Be prepared to take any risk for the Master, as long as you know that is the direction He is leading. You will reach the throne.
