TOUCH NOT

READ: 2 KINGS 6:15-17
“He allowed no man to do them wrong: yea, He reproved kings for their sakes; saying, Touch not My anointed, and do My prophets no harm.” (Psalm 105:14-15).
King Saul asked his soldiers to kill the priests of the Most High but they refused. They knew their limits. Whatever your pastors may be doing; be careful how you handle them because they are God’s anointed. Although they are men of God, they are bound to behave like ordinary human beings who they are, and so are subjects to erring like others. Yet you must refrain from ill-advised use of the tongue against them. In 1 Samuel 24:1-7, David had an opportunity to kill king Saul but refused to do so because it would amount to killing God’s anointed. When your pastor misbehaves, help him by interceding on his behalf and thereby averting God’s judgement on him.
Revelation 1:10-12 says that the pastors otherwise referred to as angels and stars of the church, are in God’s hands. This means that if they misbehave, all God may have to do in order to deal with them is to close His hands. According to our reading, Elisha prayed for God to open the eyes of his servant and God opened them and he saw they were surrounded by innumerable horses and chariots of fire. This means if the man of God goes wrong, God will not have to look for those who will punish him. They are already around him.
Satan plans to destroy the ministry of your pastor and thereby blow your cover. If he tries to cause him to fall through immorality, pride and covetousness and he doesn’t, he will try gossip and rumour-mongering. Never partake of any rumour making the rounds about your pastor. Take it to God in prayers. Those who pull down the leaders who build them are bringing curses upon themselves. Even when your pastor has actually done an evil deed, leave him to the One who anointed him to judge. But through prayer, you can help him. You can also prayerfully and humbly give him sound advice. He needs you as much as you need him. If the devil gets your pastor he has gotten the congregation. Pray and fast for your spiritual head. If you save your pastor, you have saved the entire congregation.
MEMORIZE: COLOSSIANS 4:3 –Meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door of utterance, to speak the ministry of Christ, for which I am also in bonds.
