NUMBERS 12:4-9
God
specializes in speaking in coded language. He employs figures of speech in
conveying important messages to His children. In the Bible, several earthly
symbols and events are employed for the purpose of explaining certain heavenly
events, objects and workings. When Jesus Christ was here on earth, after
teaching the multitudes in parables, He later gave the meanings of such symbols
to His twelve disciples. According to Numbers 12:7-8, your relationship with
the Lord determines how clearly He speaks to you. The closer you are to Him,
the clearer you will see and hear from Him.
When the disciples asked the Lord why He taught the multitudes in parables, “He answered and said to them, Because it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.” (Matthew 13:11). There are certain mysteries or deep secrets in God’s Kingdom which are exclusively reserved for those who come into the Kingdom. If you are not born again, you cannot access these secrets. After you are born again, you automatically qualify for such privileged knowledge. But what determines the measure you get is your closeness to the Holy Spirit who is the custodian of the secrets of the Trinity. How God speaks to you determines your placement and the privileges you can possibly enjoy in the Kingdom. In Joel 2:28, we are told that while old men can receive from God through dreams, young men can have visions. This means those who have grown weak, weary and visionless in following the Lord will mainly hear from God through dreams. This is not a good place to be because if that believer stays up at night to do some works, and there is danger ahead, he will miss the warning and walk right into the trap.
Apart from this, he may sleep that night and receive the dream but if he has not developed the gift or is prayerless, he may not be able to discern the true meaning of the dream. The youths are those who are still bubbling and very active for the Lord irrespective of their physical age. Such can be warned at anytime of the day through visions. According to our reading, there is a higher level. God can speak to you mouth to mouth as He did with Moses. Such people have access to limitless secrets and should be held in reverence by the earlier categories. No wonder the Holy Spirit could reveal and document the secrets of creation in dateless past through Moses. No wonder Miriam a prophetess became leprous for daring to speak against Moses. Where do you stand today? You can move forward.
