WINNING WIDOWS

READ: LUKE 8:1-3
Have you wondered why God chose to send Elijah to a widow for sustenance during the famine in Samaria? It is because widows are more open and receptive to spirits whether holy or not. This accounts for why more women are witches and marine agents. This is also why more women are in the service of the Lord than men. When it comes to praising God, women take the lead. When it comes to doing God’s will and totally surrendering unto Him, women find it easier. They easily give to God and serve Him.
Today’s reading reveals that the bulk of the money spent in supporting the ministry of Jesus Christ was from women. Mary Magdalene was full of demons until she received Jesus and was filled with the Holy Spirit. Thereafter she started taking care of Jesus. Thank God for godly women. Are you a sister? To what extent do you meet these challenges? Another question is, why did God use a widow and not a married woman? “There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit; but she that is married cares for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.” (1 Corinthians 7:34).
A widow, like an unmarried woman, has no husband to care for; hence she is able to devote all her time and sometimes resources to serving the Lord. God will bless all our widows in Jesus name. Apart from this, the widow of Zarephath was in desperate need and the Lord came to her rescue. Those who receive their miracles first when God is distributing miracles are usually those who are desperate. The widow of Nain had her only son raised back to life. The Lord will visit you and make your joy full in Jesus Name.
How much time do you spend for the Master? To what extent do you serve the Lord, night and day in fasting, prayer, praise and worship like Anna the prophetess (Luke 2:36-38)? Are you a widower? You too can affect your world positively to God’s glory. It is a great privilege to be a widow of the Lord. You have ample opportunities to serve God to a point of heaping so much treasure for yourself in Heaven. Arise and be a source of support to your pastors, congregations, and all that meet with you.
MEMORIZE: PSALM 107:41 –Yet sets He the poor on high from affliction, and makes him families like a flock.
