READ: MATTHEW 6:20-21
Psalm 91 is a wonderful Psalm to read. From the
first verse we are introduced to the secret place of the Lord. A secret place
is that special chamber in a house that is exclusively reserved for the use of
the house owner. Visitors are not allowed there. This is where your treasures
and vital documents are kept. If fire was to engulf your building, which part
would you rescue first? It is where your treasure is. Jesus says your heart
will remain where your treasure is. In the same vein, God has a secret place
where He keeps His treasure. That must be the most heavily guarded place in the
whole universe. That is where God’s heart is. That is where I want to be.
Exodus 19:5 and Psalm 135:4 say that you can become the treasure that God will
hide in His secret place.
“One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion: in the secret of His tabernacle shall He hide me; He shall set me upon a rock.” (Psalm 27:4-5). David had experienced the secret place he described in the passage above. When you are located in the secret place of the Most High, when arrows are shot at you, they will surely miss. When hired assassins are sent to your address, they will not locate your house. When trouble comes, it will pass over you. When there is an epidemic that affects every house it will pass over you. The secret place is where to be. When you are there, while others are weeping, you will be singing songs of deliverance (Psalm 32:7).
How often do you go into God’s presence? Do you go as a formality or you actually enjoy being in God’s presence like David? How precious are you to God? It is not enough to be born again. According to Exodus 196:5-6, there are certain conditions you must meet. You have to obey God completely and keep His word. If you esteem God’s word beyond all other things, God will take you as His treasure and keep you in His secret place. You are the one to determine where you will be hidden inside or outside of the secret place.

in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the
Almighty.
