DRYNESS DURING RAINFALL

READ: LUKE 18:35-43
Pass me not, O gentle Saviour, Hear my humble cry: while on others Thou art calling, Do not pass me by.” These are lyrics from a song that has gained popularity within the Christians circles. Have you witnessed rainfall in a geographical location where, within the same area, there was a dry portion, untouched by the rain? It is possible to experience dryness even when the rain is falling. This is why every Christian must make the above song their prayer and back it up with commensurate works.
Blind Bartimaeus heard that Jesus was passing by. That means the rain of God’s blessings is falling. He called out to the Lord and part of the multitude that thronged Jesus shut him up. Suddenly, it dawned on him that the multitude was the hindrance he must overcome in order to partake of the rain. So he began to shout. He raised his voice higher each time, until it drowned out the noise of the multitude. In fact, when Jesus heard and sent for him, the multitude must have heaved a sigh of relief saying, ‘At last, we can have our peace’, for he had become a nuisance to everyone. Bartimaeus was healed and became a testimony. The multitude that had followed Jesus over a long distance was still dry but the man who stood in one place had partaken of the rain of blessings. They were near, yet so far from the rain. May the Lord not pass you without an evidence of His touch in Jesus name.
Many believers remain dry when they come to the Holy Ghost service where the rain of God’s blessing is falling heavily. Why? By engaging in discussion during the message. Some others begin to receive or make calls at that time. In fact, some will tell you, ‘I cannot afford to switch off my GSM phone because business can come anytime.’ When they should be concentrating on the word, their minds are tuned to some invisible phone calls. Others would on arrival look for a very convenient location, lie down and sleep. Some are so preoccupied with their problem or need that they cannot hear what God is saying. Some come without expectations. If you come expecting nothing be rest assured you will end up with nothing. (The law of harvest).
Some feel too proud and ask, ‘what else is the preacher going to say that has not been said before?’ While for some others, it is the best to buy and sell. All these are the multitudes you must overcome if you must receive of the rain of blessings. Change your attitude so as to be a full partaker of God’s rainfall.
MEMORIZE: PSALM 107:34 –A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.
