RE-WRITING GOD’S PLAN

READ: ROMANS 8:28-31
“For the LORD of host has purposed, and who shall disannul it? And His hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?” (Isaiah 14:27). God’s purpose for your life will surely come to pass. Joseph is a classical example here. Very early in life, he got to know God’s purpose for his life. He shared that vision with his brothers, but that made them hate him the more and sold him into slavery. Later in Potiphar’s house, he became the chief steward. But one day because he refused to compromise his faith, he landed in prison. Eventually, from prison, he found himself on the throne.
God will work out his purpose in your life in a mysterious way. The various events that culminated in consummating Joseph’s dream were not in his hands but God’s. You are the only one that can frustrate God’s plan for your life. Every obstacle the enemies place in your way will expedite the fulfilment of your dream. For you to get to your goal however requires commitment in obeying God’s instructions whether they appear foolish or not. God has a step by step, day by day, week by week, month by month and year by year plan for His children. When you take time to ask for His direction, what He does is to look at where you are and check out your file to determine your location. From there He will tell you what to do to move to the next point in His plan for you. If you refuse to follow such instructions, you will derail from His will.
Many of God’s children have rewritten God’s plan for their lives. In 1 Samuel 2:27-36, Eli refused to honour God by leaving his children to grow wild and as a result rewrote God’s plan for him, his children and generations after him. But you may ask, what is the connection between raising one’s children in God’s way and fulfilling one’s destiny? This is one reason many prominent people of God could not fulfil God’s plan for their lives. If you cannot raise your children in the fear of the Lord to become the godly seed He wants them to be, that failure will constitute a hindrance on your way to reaching your goal. After Abraham received the promise of greatness, God began to watch if he will obey Him and raise his children and household in His way or not. This means God was not bound to fulfil His promises to Abraham until this was done. By the time God was convinced, He went ahead to concretize His promises to Abraham (Genesis 18:19). Is your family positioned to provoke the fulfilment of God’s promises in your life?
