DEATH TRAPS

READ: ACTS 12:20-23
“That we hereafter be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.” (Ephesians 4:14).
Satan has several ways through which he can rob you of your blessings. One of such is false doctrines. This is why it is very dangerous to keep seeking knowledge from every possible source without qualifying the type of knowledge you seek. Many Christian in their indiscriminate search of knowledge have ended up tolerating the same thing God has prohibited and have begun to tell others the issues in God’s Word are not as serious as they sound. Believers who in their bid for more knowledge begin to read demonic and occultic books such as the six and seven books of Moses as well as materials from Christian science and mind developing theories may soon be caught up in Satan’s web of deceit. What you eat is what you are. Knowledge is like food. Most likely, what you read is what you become. Beware!
Flattery is another way the anointing of the Holy Spirit or any blessing God has given to you cvan evaporate. Proverbs 29:5 says, “A man that flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.” Anyone who is flattering you is an enemy and is preparing you for destruction. Beware. In Judges 16:1-6 we see Delilah flattering Samson. She began to talk much about his great strength and praise him to the point that he did not know when he revealed the secret of his strength to the enemy.
Some leaders have surrounded themselves with sycophants. It shows such leaders love the praise of men more than God’s. When men begin to sing your praise, be careful. Be very careful. Herod was flattered into his shameful death before the same people who were praising him. Anyone who tries to make you feel you have become powerful, successful, wealthy, or famous that you can now stand and measure shoulder to shoulder with God has just dug your grave. God will not share His glory with anyone. So He will disgrace that glory thief. Flattery generates pride. Pride comes with destruction. Watch out lest you are swept off by the current of destruction that accompanies pride.
MEMORIZE: EPHESIANS 4:14 –That we hereafter be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.
