PREVENTING A LOSS

READ: JOHN 15:1-7
Every gift that comes from God can either be retained or lost. The recipient’s attitude in handling the gift will determine if it will be permanent or not. It is far preferable to retain a blessing than to lose it out of carelessness and begin to seek it afresh. You can retain that anointing. You can retain your spiritual gifts. You can be prevented from encountering the sorrow of losing something precious. How? First, maintain your contact with the Source of your blessing, the Holy Spirit. Stay in constant touch with Him. “If a man abide not in Me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast theminto the fire, and they are burned.” (John 15:6)
The assurance of receving continous supply of power is guaranteed as long as the branch is connected closely with tree. When a separation occurs, you lose you supply. If you drop a hot iron into a bucket of water, soon, the water will boil. As it is boiling, it will be taking heat from the hot iron thereby making the iron to become colder. Before long both the iron and the water will become cold. In the same way if you are hot for Christ today and later lose contact with the Holy Spirit you will soon become cold. May you remain hot for the Lord in Jesus name.
Another way to prevent a loss of power is by ever remaining thirsty. In Isaiah 44:3 God promises to pour water on the thirsty. The thirsty have capacity to be filled. Their degree of thirst defines the vacuum the Lord will fill. Are you thirsty for more of God’s power? It is very necessary if you must replenish the anointing of God on your life. Another way of preventing a loss is to ensure you do not forget the purpose God gave you the power He gave you in the first place. In Acts 1:8, we are told God gave us His power so that we can witness to souls and win them over into His Kingdom. If you do not use the anointing for soul winning, you will lose it. The power is not for decoration or for the fun of it. If you evangelise and win souls, the Lord will replenish the anointing in a greater measure. The more you witness, the more power you will receive. Arise today and safe guard your anointing by using it for the purpose it was meant.
MEMORIZE: JOHN 15:6 –If a man abide not in Me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast theminto the fire, and they are burned.
