THE WINNING MINDSET

READ: 1 CORINTHIANS 9:24-27
“Know you not that they which run in a race run all, but one receives the prize? So run, that you may obtain.” (1 Corinthians 9:24).
Those who will receive the showers of God’s blessings must run with the mindset of winning. They must be driven with a passion to excel. Whatever they do would reveal this winning demeanour. When they sing, it will be with a difference. When I was a university student in 1963, my coach told me, ‘Don’t ever listen to those who go about saying taking part in sports is all that matters, not necessarily winning. When they tell you that, confront them with this question: Home come sport organisers do not give medals to losers?’
In Deuteronomy 28:13 the Lord promised to make you the head. He does not want to be tail because He is number One and the true winner. If you have Him in your life, His winning traits should be  clearly seen in your attitude to life’s challenges. If you want to succeed and be number one in a particular area, your mind must be set on getting there. It is said, if you aim at the sky, you may end up on the top of a tree but if you aim at the tree, you may never leave the ground. If you desire anointing. Aim for the highest. You cannot be aimless and expect to end up great. What you aim at is what directs the way your resources will be channelled. The higher you aim, the better.
In addition, to qualify for the showers, you must be ready to pay the price. It is not enough to aim high and have a big desire. You must back up your desire with action. Nothing goes for nothing. The higher you aim, the greater the sacrifice. A footballer that is training for a local friendly match will require less preparation than one who is training for a world cup tournament. But you migh say ‘salvation is free.’ It is free because Jesus Christ paid for it. You must be prepared to pay a price for God’s anointing or showers of blessings. This has nothing to do with money. You have to surrender your life to Christ. After receiving Him as Saviour, you have to receive Him as your Lord. God will only release His special treasure on the one He can control. No General will put a sophisticated gun in the hands of a recruit or there will be abuse and misuse of the equipment. You desire the exact measure of anointing upon my life, fine. But if you still have a violent temper and have such anointing you could destroy an entire community in one day. Go and work on yourself first. Deal with your flesh and totally subject it under Christ and the anointing will come.
MEMORIZE: 1 CORINTHIANS 9:24 –Know you not that they which run in a race run all, but one receives the prize? So run, that you may obtain.
