LASTING BLESSINGS

READ: PSALM 104: 13-16
God releases His rain upon the righteous and the unrighteous (Matthew 5:45). These are general blessings we may receive from God whether we believe in Him or not. Psalm 145:9 says, “The LORD is good to all: and His tender mercies are over all His works.” Believe it or not there is nobody who has not benefited from these general blessings. Unfortunately, Satan can easily manipulate and steal the blessings of the unbelievers. But when you are born again, you are vested with the authority to resist him, recover stolen blessings and thereafter retain them. Whether you use your authority or not is a different matter entirely.
Besides there, there are special blessings. The showers of God’s blessings are exclusively for very special people. When you are translated from the kingdom of darkness into God’s marvellous light, you automatically have a right to certain uncommon blessings. There are conditions attached to them though. According to Isaiah 1:19, you must be willing and obedient if you must qualify for the flood of God’s blessings. Showers of blessings are reserved for only those who will be a source of blessings to others. God is interested in flowing rivers through which He will channel His blessings. He is not looking for lakes, or pools of water. If you are stingy, or you do not readily assist others who are in need, that can disqualify you from God’s showers. The real blessings and promises that God gives go beyond us. God called Abraham and gave him promises which out-lived him. Up till now, we can benefit fully from the Abrahamic covenant after we have received Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. Your blessings outlive you.
The dunghill, dustbin, graveyard and the Dead sea are the things that receive and never give. This is why there is nothing living or glorious about them. If you consider God’s blessings in your care as your possessions and therefore refuse to invest it as and when directed by the Holy Spirit, you have excluded yourself from the showers. Stinginess is anti-christ. If you cannot spend on fellow believers as well as sponsor the things of the Kingdom, you would have disqualified yourself from going higher. Repent today and begin to spend and be spent for the Lord. Start with what you have. When God sees your faithfulness in the little, He will release the shower as well.
