READ: GENESIS 12:1-3
In today’s reading, God
called Abraham to get out of where he was to where God wanted him. By this
call, Abraham was given a vision larger than life. It appeared an impossible
trip but God specializes in making impossible things possible. God told him,
‘Get you out.’ What He wants to do in and through our lives will only be
possible if we ‘get out’. The vision of the Redeemed Christian Church of God
(RCCG) is an extension, and continuation of the vision god gave to Abraham
thousands of years before. This beats man’s comprehension completely. What God
is giving us, He had earlier given to several others before us, but they lost
it. We must therefore be careful so that we do not lose it. If you are a member
of the RCCG, your coming to partake in this great and noble vision, is not by
accident but by God’s design.
God asked Abraham to get out. To us this means we have to be ready for intense missionary work in and outside Nigeria. It means it is time for aggressive evangelism. The promises that accompany the command would only work if we obey God. As God told Abraham, so is He saying to us today: He will make our name great. We will be a blessing. Most of the promises the Lord gave to us are zlready being fulfilled.
God says through us the earth will be blessed. When God told Abraham this, it sounded like the biggest joke ever. Today it is a reality. Through Abraham, Jesus came and turned several millions into God’s children. And these are Abraham’s spiritual children. If someone had gone to Ifewara, my birth place, some sixty years ago to tell my father that one day, his son would stand before several thousands who will call him ‘Daddy’ and together they will affect the world as nobody else had done before, my father would have asked ‘Who gave you palm wine to drink?’ Thank God you are here today to see what God is doing. You have your part to play in fully realising this great vision. Arise and do it. Support this vision with everything you can. Your greatness lies in this. Don’t let anything or anyone discourage you. You are not just obeying the leadership but God who gave the vision and brought you into the scene.
