TIME TO KNOCK

READ: LUKE 18:1-8
Jezebel sent to Elijah that she would get rid of him within twenty-four hours. Elijah opened the door to fear and suddenly forgot who he was, the mightiness of his God, and what God has done in the past. He began to reason carnally. He felt twenty four hours was too short a time for God to do something about the threat, so he thought his best option was to flee. (1 Kings 19:1-3).
“The wicked flee when no man pursues; but the righteous are bold as a lion” (Proverbs 28:1). Your enemies should run from you. If you are a child of God, you should be bold as a lion. The lion is the king of all animals. Jesus Christ is the Lion of the tribe of Judah (Revelation 5:5). He lives in you. The Spirit of love, power and of a sound mind is in you (2 Timothy 1:7). You have no reason to turn your back to your enemies. However, if you are living in sin, you need to take your enemy’s threat seriously. If you don’t reconcile immediately with Jesus, they can finish you. Also, if you have not taken pains to know the God of your salvation, to be acquainted with Him and be close to Him, you may lack the courage to withstand the enemy’s threat.
Are you faced with a challenge that requires God’s intervention within 24 hours? Are you being asked to renew your rent within 24 hours or be evicted? Is a beloved one lying critically ill and the doctor says he has only 24 hours to live? To you that is a very short time. But with God, 24 hours is a day and Psalm 90:4 says a day before God is like 1000 years. If you are given 1000 years to do a particular assignment, I am very sure you will do it even beyond perfection. Your 24 hours gives God 1000 years to intervene. He will intervene, and will make a way for you. In any case, this is not the time to ask or seek. Begin to knock. Bang at Heaven’s gates. Disturb Heaven to a point that God will say, if I do not answer this my child, I will not have rest. The Lord will come into your situation. He has more than enough time to intervene.
