BEYOND YOUR REQUEST

READ: MATTHEW 9:1-7
“Now to Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” (Ephesians 3:20)
Our God is good. He is all sufficient. Beyond this, His benevolence is simply awesome. He is good that He still rains His blessings on the evil and underserving (Matthew 5:45). For those who will truly turn to Him with all their hearts, God hears their requests, but beyond that He gives them something more.
2 Kings 4:1-7 tells us of a jobless widow whose sons were to be taken as slaves in payment of debts owed a particular creditor. She ran to God’s representative, Elisha, for His miraculous intervention so that she can retain her children and have her debts cleared. She got much more! After granting her requests, God turned her into an oil magnate through which she lived in abundance thereafter.
In today’s reading, concerned friends and relatives of a paralysed man brought him on a stretcher to Jesus. They had heard and some had seen Jesus heal others before so they believed that Jesus would be able to heal him. When they came Jesus saw their faith and honoured them. They got more than they bargained for. The paralysed man rose to his feet but beyond this he was transformed from sinner to saint!
God is greater than you and your requests. He is greater than the totality of requests human beings can ever make. He is able to do way above all you can ask or dream of. That is why He is God Almighty. This year, as you come to God in sincerity, love, humility, praise and thanksgiving, He will give you beyond your request in Jesus name. Have problems brought you to Jesus? You will receive solutions. And much more.
MEMORIZE: EPHESIANS 3:20 –Now to Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
