THE COMMANDER

READ: MATTHEW 17:24-27
In 1 Kings 17:2-6, after Elijah had left the presence of the king; the Lord told him, “I have commanded the ravens to feed you.” Who is the one commanding? It is the I am that I am. The One who never changes. Hebrews 13:8 says He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is the Almighty. He is the God of all flesh as well as the Commander of all flesh. Psalm 33:9 says, whatever He commands stands. In Jonah 1:17, He commanded a big fish to swallow Jonah and it obeyed  promptly.
When a command is given, the extent and promptness to which it is obeyed is determined by the authority of the one who gives it. The traffic warden who goes to control traffic is bound to be obeyed because he has authority of the state to do so. But a young secondary school boy in uniform who attempts to control the traffic would be ignored by motorists. Jesus Christ is the One who has all authority both in Heaven, on earth and beneath the earth. When He commands, it will surely come to pass.
According to our reading, when tax collectors came to Peter to collect tax for both himself and his Master, the latter asked him to go to the river to fish. He obeyed. Meanwhile, He had commanded a fish to swallow the money they require and to put its mouth in Peter’s hook. This year the Lord will surprise you. You do not need to bother about how God will bring it to pass. The commander will work it out. He will command your blessings to meet you where you are. If need be, He will command fishes, dogs or human beings to bring your blessing.
Surprisingly, of all the creatures, human beings are the only ones disobeying God. Hence Isaiah 1:19 says you have to be willing and obedient to partake of His blessing. Are you willing? Call on Him now and ask Him to speak joy into that sorrowful situation. Ask Him to speak peace into your storm and prosperity into your life. The more you yield to the Commander, the more you too will begin to command and receive prompt compliance. To what extent do you willingly submit to the Commander? Every good thing the Lord has commanded to come to you will not miss you this year in Jesus Name. Stay close, obedient and sensitive to the Commander’s voice.
MEMORIZE: JOSHUA 11:15 –As the Lord commanded Moses His servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses.
