KINGS 7:8-11
“Verily, verily, I say
to you, he that believes on Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and
greater works than these shall he do; because I go to My Father.” (John 14:12).
A true father would want his children to be greater than him. This should not only be in words but in action. Our Lord Jesus exemplified this trait both in words and deeds. He promised His followers that they can do greater works than He did. And He took time to invest Himself in them, to ensure His desire was realised. A look at the activities of the disciples after His ascension, shows that they continued the Master’s programme on earth, while He backed them up by the Spirit (Mark 16:20).
Your greatest asset on earth is your children. Some goals set for yourself will be accomplished. But there are some higher goals which you may not be able to accomplish. It is your children that will continue from where you stopped. The level of greatness you could not attain is automatically left for your children to attain. But to what extent have you prepared and equipped them to attain that level? David wanted to build an outstanding temple for God, but because he had shed so much blood, the Lord refused and, rather, approved Solomon, his son, to do so.
David could have gone to sleep and left Salomon to handle the temple as he liked. Not David! He ensured that he provided abundantly for the temple to be built (1 Chronicles 29:1-5). This provision was some hundreds of millions of dollars. With such a provision, it was easy for Solomon to build the temple. How much your children accomplish is dependent on how much you invest in them. If you do not invest much, they may not be able to accomplish much.
As you think of what to invest in business, stocks and shares, think of your children. They are worth all your possible inputs. They are your greatest asset. They are your living legacies. Spend and be spent for them, ensuring they have a better tomorrow. Time will tell whether your investment in them was adequately or not. The future of your children will either bring glory or disgrace to you. Begin to invest wisely from today.
