READ: PSALM
147:1-5
When the
Lord commanded the ravens to feed Elijah, they brought bread and meat morning
and evening (1 Kings 17:2-6). Morning stands for the days of youth while
evening refers to old age. This means that God will be with you in the days of
your youth, and will still be there for you in old age. He can do this because
He does not grow old or die. He is ageless and exists in eternity (past,
present and future). Some believers who had a fine youthful period are afraid
what their latter years (old age) hold for them. To you, the Lord says, ‘Fear
not, I will not rest until I fulfil my good purpose in your life.’
David knew God in his youth. By the time he was old, he could say from experience, “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” (Psalm 37:24). All he could see was God’s faithfulness to His own (Hebrews 10:23; 1 Thessalonians 5:24). Are you a devoted child of God? Are you faithfully serving Him? Keep up the good work, beloved. God will be faithful to you. He will never forsake you. When you need Him the most, He will be there for you. You will see His faithfulness in every area of your life. Serve Him with all your resources.
The fact that the birds fed Elijah morning and evening also implies that those of us who have tasted the power of God once can taste of it again, even in a greater measure. This is what is called the former and latter rain in Joel 2:20-23. Have you tasted the former rain of God’s anointing? Praise God! The latter rain is coming in an unprecedented manner. The former rain was released moderately but the latter rain shall come without limits. Your evening shall be far greater than your morning. To partake fully of his blessing, draw near to God (James 4:8). Elijah was alone in the bush in God’s presence and he soaked in much power. Our problem is that we are always with people, but hardly with God. Separate yourself from people and activities and be in His presence. Have your spiritual battery recharged. Also be faithful to God in every area. You will definitely reap His faithfulness. Spend time to pray to Him (Psalm 145:18). He is ever with you. Are you still living in sin? Ecclesiastes 12:1 says, now is the time to remember your Creator. Be born again.
