THE BROOK DRIED UP

READ: 1 KINGS 17:1-7
Elijah, wanting to bring the idol worshippers, wicked Ahab and Jezebel down on their knees, shut up the heavens from releasing rain. Thereafter, God asked him to go to the brook Cherith where he was fed night and day by ravens, until the brook dried up. Thereafter He spoke again and sent him to the window of Zarephath. There are a few lessons here. The brook at Cherith dried up because Elijah decreed no rain. This means that when the wicked were suffering, the righteous were also affected. This calls for to be very active in soul winning. As long as sinners continue to sin, they will evoke God’s wrath. And by the time the judgement comes upon them, we too will be affected one way or another, especially if they are members of our family or our loved ones. Ensure all members of your family are born again.
When the brook dried up God immediately guided Elijah as regards the next place of sustenance. This shows that God has already made a way of escape for His beloved children, even before the difficulty comes. Jesus is the way. No trouble shall overcome you this year in Jesus name. According to Psalm 91:7-8, He has promised that every arrow sent against you this year, will hit your enemies on your left and right.
When the brook dried up Elijah did not grumble or query God. Some brothers who meet with difficulty after marriage would say, ‘Lord, imagine the mess I am in. Afterall, you asked me to marry this sister contrary to my initial desire.’ That you married in God’s will or that you got a go-ahead does not mean you would be exempted from problems. Greater problems may attend to you while in God’s perfect will, but be sure He will make a way for you. Those who are sincerely filled with the Holy Spirit do not issue God queries. They praise God in trouble because they know that there is no problem facing you right now, will soon become a testimony. The same people feeling sorry for you will soon join you to celebrate God’s goodness in your life.
MEMORIZE: PSALM 107:35 –He turned the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings.
