READ: LUKE
12:16-21
What you
leave behind, which you are remembered for is your legacy. It can be good or
bad. While some leave legacies that cannot endure, others have a lasting
legacy. When people come together to establish a business, their main purpose
is to make profit. There are some businesses that fold up immediately the
owners die. Yet there are others that outlive their owners. Today, one reason
for establishing public liability limited companies (plc) is to make them so
strong and vibrant that they can outlive the original founders.
Believers have the opportunities of leaving lasting legacies. Do you know you can hold spiritual shares that will continue to yield dividends long after you gave gone to glory? Verse 21 of today’s reading says it is possible to be rich on earth but poor in Heaven, rich before men but poor before God. This also means that you can be rich towards God and rich in Heaven. At best on earth you may live up to 120 years. But in Heaven after spending a billion years, it is like a drop of water into a container as big as the whole Nigeria. Where do you think you would require more money, wealth and resources? Here or Heaven? Now or eternity? Be wise today!
One way you can leave an enduring legacy is by writing highly inspirational, life-transforming books. Do you know the writers of the Bible are still reaping rewards for themselves in Heaven each time somebody reads their epistles or gospels or documented accounts and have their lives transformed? You could also receive eternal blessings through video, audio, or audio-visual production of your messages, songs, games, etc… This is one way to be rich toward God and rich in Heaven. The wise believer will convert his earthly wealth to build his Heavenly reserve and secure his investment in heaven.
Another way to have an ever-yielding investment is by building God’s house. Although God denied David the honour of building the temple, yet David made provisions worth several hundreds of millions of dollars for the purpose, because he knew this secret. Some pastors refuse to build their parishes because they believe sooner or later they will be transferred to some place else. ‘Why build for other to enjoy?’ This shows ignorance. Do you know if you build God’s house, those souls that would be saved, transformed, healed, and blessed there will give you your share years after you have gone to glory? When the church is established without inputs from you, it automatically erodes the endless well of blessing you could have received. Invest wisely today.

LUKE 12:33 –Sell that you have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which
wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that fails not, where no thief
