Another
characteristic of the loser is that he is ever receiving and never giving. He
is a dumping ground. This is different from the one who hears and meditates
upon and eventually stores the same word of God in his spiritual armour (Joshua
1:8). In the parable of the sower, the loser constitutes the stony ground on
which no seed can take deep root. Before long, the birds of the air come and
steal it away (Matthew 18:23). ‘Hearers-only’ Christians have a hardened,
obstinate and carefree heart. The word of God cannot yield good fruit in their
lives. Are you like that?
Eating food is very necessary for the daily survival of man. But a man who eats and eats without digesting it, will get to a point where the same food that should have prolonged his life will kill him. This is what happens to Christians who keep hearing yet refuse to digest God’s word by acting on it. Beloved, is the spiritual diet you receive daily working life or death in you? James 1:22 says those who belong to this club are engaged in self-deceit. You may attempt to deceive God or your fellow men but the highest level of deceit is to deceit is to deceive oneself, to see a dog and convince yourself it is an elephant. Nothing could be worse.
You say; ‘Praise God, I do not belong to this class.’ Really? Every year, you have heard about restitution but have not done it; where do you belong? Regularly, you have heard about tithes. You even teach it to others. Several years after claiming to have been saved, you cannot be faithful to God in tithes. The Holy Spirit has been telling you to do a particular thing but you have paid deaf ears. These put you in the class of losers. Do something fast about leaving the ‘hearers-only’ class. Why? The same word God has taught you, which you have no record of; God keeps an up-to-date account of. Those you fail to act upon will confront you as the evidence of disobedience on the day of judgement (John 12:48). That pending restitution can shut Heaven’s gates and sentence you to hell. Everyone in this club has given Satan the legal right to accuse them before God, and therefore hinder their prayers (Revelation 12:10). If you refuse to use the keys God gave to you, He will not give you greater ones. God is a wise administrator. Take steps to come out now from the ‘hearers-only’ club.
