“But as many as received Him, to them gave He
power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12).
We are blessed to be children of the Most High God. It is only in the Christian faith that you can call God, Father. When you become born again, your name changes. When this happens, curses previously placed upon you will be automatically cancelled. Any curse that flows in your family line will no longer work in your life by virtue of the new name you have in Christ.
At a point while still lecturing, I combined my job with my pastoral duties. A lady came to my office for counseling and prayer. She had a terrible story to tell. She had a dream in which four strange men asked her to join them in a car. As soon as she entered, they brought out guns in an attempt to shoot her. She screamed until she woke up. Sweating profusely, she was disturbed and frightened by the dream so she ran to the most powerful fetish priest in her village. The priest told her it was a hopeless case and that she would die on the 25th of March.
She was disappointed and ran to a palm reader who confirmed the verdict. From there she went to white garment prophetess who confirmed the death sentence even before being told of the dream. How will you feel if three different people told you that you are going to die on a particular day? Eventually, the lady came to my office and after narrating her experience, I told her that death sentence will not occur if only she would be born again and have her name changed from sinner to saint. She immediately gave her life to Christ. The lady was a student. On that fateful day, she came to me to say she is still alive. When I asked if anything happened the previous night, she said something strange happened. That nobody in her hostel could sleep throughout the night. So I told her the angel of death came for her looking for someone with her old name but could not find her because she has got a new name. Have you had a change of name?
