READ: ECCLESIASTES
5:13-15
“I am the vine, you are the branches; He that
abides in me, and I in him the same brings forth much fruit; for without Me you
can do nothing” (John 15:5)
Although we have our part to play in fulfilling our God-given vision, God also has His. In Ecclesiastes, the wise king Solomon said he observed that the man who wins the race is not necessarily the fastest, and that a battle is won not necessarily by the strongest opponent. It is because God’s invisible hands are at work in those visible situations. Your success does not depend on your ability, strength and effort. The fact that you struggle hard and work like a slave does not necessarily mean that you will prosper. Some couples who have worked extra hard for years just to make babies have not succeeded till now. The Lord will make His input into yours and you will enter your breakthrough. The more of God you have, the less effort you need. If you have less of God, you will need to make extra effort to fulfil your destiny. The choice is yours.
“To whom coming, as to a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious” (1 Peter 2:4).
One’s life on earth is like erecting a building. There are stages in the building of a house. Some buildings never go beyond foundation stage. A good example of this is Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11). Their foundation for greatness was laid but because they tried to deceive the Holy Spirit, they died at foundation level. Some people in the church today are already dead and can never go beyond where they are because they have been deceiving the Holy Spirit through tithes and other means. They think God does not understand mathematics. Some houses leave the foundation but are never roofed. Judas Iscariot is a good example here. He was so close to being roofed yet greed killed him. Some houses collapse immediately after completion. This was the case of king Saul (1 Samuel 15:22-23). He was already a king but became uncontrollable so God pulled down the house. Some houses are never occupied even after completion according to our reading. What type of building are you?
