PEACE AT HOME

READ: 1 SAMUEL 25:18-19
When one of Abigail’s servants reported how her husband, Nabal repaid evil for the good David’s men had done to him, she quickly swung into action. She took lots of gifts to David, to pacify him and avert the destruction that was imminent on her household. Abigail was wise woman. Proverbs 14:1 says, “Every wise woman builds her house; but the foolish plucks it down with her hands.” If your home is enjoying peace, it means your wife has made a lot of sacrifice to keep it that way. As a woman, you have a duty to keep on protecting your house with wisdom.
“He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster” (Proverbs 18:9).
A wise woman builds her own house. There is time for everything. There is a time to fight, a time to run, and a time to use wisdom. What cannot be achieved by other means can be achieved through wisdom. Abigail was not slothful. She was quick to act. She knew delay could cost her the entire family. A wise woman will not abandon her responsibilities. Everything should be done at the right time. A wise student will not abandon his studies until a day to the examination. It costs much more to cure than to prevent. Every wise Christian will try to prevent the unwanted. You will jealously guard your relationship with God in order to prevent negative fallouts.
“Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it” (Psalm 34:14).
Abigail appreciated the value of peace. She probably knew of the above passage. Do everything you can to ensure peace in your home. The worse place to fight a battle is in the family. To keep your family in peace, prayer is required. Are you experiencing disquiet in your home? The Prince of peace will ordain peace in your home.
MEMORIZE: PROVERBS 18:9 –He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.
