NO LOOKING BACK

READ: LUKE 9:61-62
“They that were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them. But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps” (Matthew 25:3-4).
The virgins in this parable had been chosen to meet the bridegroom but the bridegroom had not yet come. The wise five among them knew that since they were not sure when the bridegroom would come, it was better to take extra oil. They were good planners who made room for unforeseen exigencies. The foolish five were presumptuous. Their refusal to take extra oil is like somebody going to the market place to purchase something of value whose price is unknown. Instead of going with more than enough money to avoid another trip, he takes little hoping that will be enough.
The foolish virgins represent Christians who had the resources of time, talent and knowledge with which to improve on their spiritual standing but failed to do so. The day of rapture is the day of reckoning. On that day, the difference between the wise and the foolish Christians will be evident. Have you put your hands on the plough of salvation? Go ahead. There is no looking back. To avoid looking back, bury everything that would remind you of your sinful past. Re-define every relationship you keep and throw away those that would make you to look into the trash bin.
You are in the race. It is not 100 metres dash. It is a marathon. You cannot relax until you get to the finishing line. Our finishing line is in Heaven. The wise virgin knew that the bridegroom was sovereign. He can come when He likes. Jesus tells us He does not know the very moment the Father would ask Him to come and take His own. Be prepared to wait as long as it takes, but live as if He would come today. What have you left undone? Do it today. You will make it to Heaven at last.
MEMORIZE: LUKE 9:62 –And Jesus said to him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
