READ: 1 KINGS 21:17-20
King Ahab coveted a
vineyard very close to his palace. It belonged to Naboth. When he met Naboth to
sell him the garden, the latter refused. On the advice of Jezebel his wife,
Naboth was killed and his vineyard taken. Sin has one outstanding feature: It
cannot be hidden. At the time of possessing the land, Elijah went to meet Ahab.
He was shocked, so he asked if his sin has been uncovered. Elijah told him yes.
The Lord will uncover the secrets of your enemies to you. The secrets of those
who are pretending to be your friends shall be exposed. The secrets of false
brethren shall be revealed. The secrets of those whose sins are causing other
people to suffer, like was the case with Achan, shall be exposed.
“But God has revealed them to us by His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God” (1 Corinthians 2:10).
The Holy Spirit searches the hearts. When the word of God is sent to the heart, by the power of the Holy Spirit, it brings a feedback regarding the situation of the hearer. This comes as word of knowledge and word of wisdom operated through the Holy Spirit. God’s word never returns without a feedback (Isaiah 55:10-11).
God wants you to draw near to Him. If you could pay the price of a close walk with God, revelations will be common place in your life. Do you know you can spy into the preacher’s message and jot down the next point before he mentions them? You can have advance knowledge of someone who is about to visit you a short while before he comes. You can have the spiritual video tape of several conversations that have to do with you. You can unveil people’s problems and what would happen to them. These and much more are possible if only you could become a friend of the Holy Spirit. He hardly keeps secrets from His friends. If you are a friend of the Holy Spirit, He will give you spiritual gifts and the grace to enable you develop them. You can be greater than Elijah.
