OUT-LIVING YOUR ENEMIES

READ: 2 KINGS 1:1-4
When the story of Elijah began in 1 Kings 17:1, he was introduced as Elijah the Tishbite. Then he was unknown. Again in today’s reading, he is referred to as Elijah the Tishbite, even though he had become very popular and powerful. The lesson here is that if you want to finish your race successfully, you must remain humble throughout your life. If some Christians were in Elijah’s shoes, they would have acquired titles such as ‘great Prophet’ or ‘Most Senior Prophet’, etc. Elijah had a humble beginning and a humble ending. Little wonder the Lord exalted him. Titles do not matter before God. What matters is the anointing. What matters is not how many times you have been ordained but how much of the Holy Spirit is in you.
Also, we read that Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab. This means that Ahab was already dead at the time this story was written. Elijah’s number one enemy was already dead while Elijah was still alive. This means by the time your enemy dies, you will still be alive. You will see the end of your enemies. Very soon you will read the obituaries of all those plotting your death.
“Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David. But David waxed stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker” (2 Samuel 3:1).
All satanic agents who have gathered to fight against you and your household; will become weaker from today until they are extinct. You must remain faithful to God for this to be fulfilled in your life. According to Psalm 9:3, you must never be far from God’s presence. Prayerfully and persistently wait on God to fulfil your heart’s desires. Do not be carried away by the strength of your enemies. You will outlive them.
MEMORIZE: 2 SAMUEL 3:1 –Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David. But David waxed stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker.
