THE HEAVENLY INSTITUTION

READ: PHILIPPIANS 3:8-11
After students have been examined on a number of subjects offered in a given course, a time comes when the result is released. The result sheets display the performance of each student in all the subjects. Before the result is released, immediately after the examination, each student will assess his or her performance based on which expected marks and grades would be awarded. When the result is released, the student will compare his or her expected marks with the observed marks on the result sheet to know the variance (difference). Your performance will determine whether you would graduate, be promoted or otherwise.
The Christian is born into a spiritual school the moment he or she becomes born again. This school has various levels from pre-nursery to post-university. There are faculties and departments in this heavenly institution. Some of the subjects offered are faith, faithfulness, love, service, obedience, the nine-fold fruit of the Spirit, etc. there are courses on Theology, Christology, Pneumatology and others. We do not graduate from this school but continue after we get to Heaven. The level you attain and the grades obtained in your life time will determine the level to continue from when you get to Heaven. Subjects like faith and hope are strictly meant to help us on earth, while a subject like love transcends the earthly plain (1 Corinthians 13:8-13). In fact, the much you can know of such remains at the elementary level. Learning in Heaven is different because there is no opposing force. Everything is perfect, progressive, peaceful, easy and convenient. Unlike earth with wide-spread ignorance, heavenly citizens are blessed with high level knowledge.
In John 16:12-14, the Lord Jesus Christ told His disciples that they still had a lot to learn but He would wait until they passed their elementary examinations before being taught higher instructions. Since He had to go to the Cross, He sent the Holy Spirit to continue the tutoring. Apostle Paul enrolled in Christology. After he passed some examinations and thought he had known all there was in that course, the Holy Spirit told him of four core subjects which were part of the foundation of the course: Knowing Him; Resurrection Power; Fellowship of Sufferings; Conforming to Death. He though he had known all but then realized he had not started. Jesus says, learn of me (Matthew 11:29). The much you know of God makes you live like Him – in charge of every situation, obeyed by everything. What do you know of Him?
MEMORIZE: PHILIPPIANS 3:8 –Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.
