READ: JOSHUA 15:13-20
“Jesus says to her, Woman, believe Me, the
hour comes, when you shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem,
worship the Father” (John 4:21).
Where you live says a lot about who you are, your promise and possibilities. You can either live in the valley or on mountain tops. Anyone who lives in the valley will have a lot of things to contend with. Valley dwellers have limited vision. Almost everything calls for their attention and shifts their focus from God. The ordinary people are those that live in the valley. Those who have no vision or sense of direction live in the valley. Christian who remain in the valley never become great. If care is not taken, they will be distracted from making it to Heaven. At the valley, the usual place to look is sideways. Hence such valley Christians resort to seeking help from man whenever they face challenges.
If prayer, personal Bible study, family devotion, giving, tithing, evangelism and other basic Christian responsibilities are still a struggle, you are at the valley. If you easily compromise when faced with situations that make demands on your faith, it is because you are at the valley. The valley is a dangerous place to be. Anybody at the valley is a sitting target for the enemy.
The place to be is the mountain tops of God’s presence. In real life, the toughest strongest and most equipped, live on mountains. Giants live on mountain tops. In Joshua 17:17-18, Joshua told Ephraim and Manasseh that because they were great people, they should dwell on mountain tops. While sharing the promised land among the Israelites, Caleb met Joshua and asked for Hebron – a land of mountains, where the giant race resided. After receiving his allocation, he fought and defeated the giants and turned them into a laughing stock. It takes a spiritual giant to fight physical giant. The mountain offers you spiritual and physical foresight. In God’s presence, you will see your enemies planning their attack long before it is carried out. On mountain tops you meet with great challenges, but there is nothing to fear because God is all around you. The longer you stay in God’s presence the more your shame is replaced with His glory. No harm can befall you in God’s presence. Where are you located? In the valley or on mountain tops?
