READ: DANIEL 2:20-21
“When you pass through the waters, I will be
with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you; when you walk
through the fire, you shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon
you” (Isaiah 43:2).
The day the Lord steps into the boat of your life, you can be assured of certain benefits. First, you have access to permanent friendship with God. A major challenge for city dwellers and students of higher learning is loneliness within large crowds.
This is worse in western countries because of their structure and living pattern than in closely knit African settings. This had led many in search of healthy relationships to end up with the wrong crowd for want of their heart’s desires. It has also led many into the wrong places. Someone once said drunkards visit the bars and drinking spots in search of fellowship. Right there, the bar attendant becomes their pastor while the drinking individuals fellowship with one another. Are you in need of fellowship? There is someone whose presence you can be guaranteed of. He promises always to be by you (Hebrews 13:5). His name is Jesus.
Psalm 27:10 says it is possible for your parents to forsake you. As a student, if you keep failing or refuse to pursue the course of study favoured by your parents, they may forsake you. But Jesus says it does not matter whether you score A or F, He has determined to be your friend. In any case, if you let Him in, He will help you change your scores from Fs to As.
Another benefit of friendship with Christ is guaranteed continuous success. Our reading says He is the source of all wisdom and might. People go to satanic priests to ask for success charms. They pay dearly for it yet get only counterfeits. But James 1:5 says the original wisdom is from God and it is yours just for the asking. Academicians are rated by the number of researches they have successfully carried out. Daniel 2:22 says the secrets and depths of knowledge are in His hands. In other words, if you want to excel in researches, be a friend of Jesus. There is nothing He cannot show you if you are His friend. There is a brother who sees all the questions in every examination in a dream before he goes to sit for it. People say he is very bright but he knows it is divine ‘expo’. If you are close to Him, He can show you secrets others may never know like He revealed the secrets of the creation to Moses on the mountain. You can be His friend from today. Are you already saved? How close are you to Jesus?
