READ: ISAIAH 53:1-5
Are you sick? Have
viruses and bacteria obtained residential permit in you? Has your body been
taken captive by the strongholds of sickness and diseases? The Lord will set
you free in Jesus name. 1 Peter 2:24 says: “Who His own self bare our sins in His own
body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live to righteousness; by
whose stripes you were healed.” There is something interesting about
the stripes Jesus took. When you have decided to kill someone, there is no need
to beat him. Flogging suggests choice of a lesser punishment before releasing
the fellow being punished. However, because Jesus was never sick and had never
experienced physical pain, He had to take the beating so that His stripes can
heal us.
In addition to this, whenever the Romans wanted to punish somebody for an offence, they normally gave such a fellow 39 strokes. In the case of Jesus, He was given one stroke more-making 40 strokes. Several years ago, I read from a book that the world’s sicknesses and diseases were categorized into 39 groups. This means Jesus took a stripe for each category. But beyond this, because He knew some sicknesses were yet to be discovered at the time of that classification, e.g. AIDS and some other diseases, Jesus therefore took an extra stripe to cover the 40th category of sicknesses. This simply means that it is finished with anything called sickness in your life and body!
“The Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged Him” (John 19:1). Jesus received the 40 stripes when He was scourged. The process of scourging was a very painful and unsightly experience. Jesus was kept in a place with His hands holding something up. A professional scourger was brought with the scourging weapon. It was a whip with a handle which had several long branches. At the end of each where tied sharp objects like broken bottles. One swing of the whip went round the body of Jesus and stuck to Him. Then the scourger pulled hard and His flesh peeled from several points. One stroke was equal to 10 or 15, yet Jesus took 40 strokes and His body was torn for you. He went through that so that you will never know pain or sickness again. Are you sick? Jesus has fully paid for your healing. His torn body is the receipt. Take the receipt of the sickness that Satan is afflicting you with and demand your healing today. You should not pay for what has already been paid for. You were healed by His stripes!

ISAIAH 53:10 –Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief;
when you shall make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He
shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand.
