READ: 1 SAMUEL 2:6-8
The lives of several
accomplishing and financially successful people reveal an innate belief that
they accomplished their goals by self efforts. As a professor, you may think
you got there solely by dint of hard work. Or because you are a witty child
from intelligent parents. You are far from being right. When I was in the
secondary school, there was a mad man who stayed near our school. He was always
in rags. Whenever we really wanted to study History, we bought him a keg of
palm wine and as he drinks, he will ask us the period of history we wanted to
know about: Is it English, European or American history? He was a professor of
History before he went nuts. Whoever you are, if you have acquired knowledge
and wisdom and are still sane, it is by God’s grace.
Another benefit of becoming a friend of God is that you will have continuous promotion. Promotion originates from God. Psalm 75:5-7 says some people search for promotion from the four cardinal points of the world. Others look up to men or their bosses for promotion. But true promotion comes from God. If you believe your promotion is from men, you would do anything to please them even to the extent of displeasing God. To what extent do you please God who alone can promote you? If you are a believer and somebody sits on your promotion for long, check out the extent to which you love or please God. If you do not delight in the Lord, then you are the one sitting on your promotion.
If you leave your promotion in the hands of men, no man will promote you above himself. There is a limit any boss or leader can elevate you. But because God is far above all men, there is no limit to the level He can take you. While people may suggest you are raised from one step to the next, or at best two steps beyond where you are, our reading today says God cab break all protocols by lifting you from the dust –the lowest level, to the throne –the highest level. God can give you multiple promotions simultaneously. Why not cultivate a better relationship with the Lord so that He can promote you beyond your dreams? You are in for divine promotion this season. Strengthen your link with the Lord. Your promotion is coming.
