NOT YOUR PORTION

READ: PROVERBS 20:4, 13
If the way some believers live today is anything to go by, you will think laziness is synonymous with godliness, and poverty with a special blend of humility. Some misinterpret Matthew 6:19 to mean that since Jesus asked us not to lay out our treasures on earth, therefore we should never aspire to be rich, never own a car, house, land, etc. Rather, we should remain poor. God never said we should be poor or lazy. God cannot condone laziness. A woman came to complain to me that she was hungry and jobless. I gave her some money. The following day, someone informed me of a job vacancy and I immediately sent for her that god has answered and that there was work for her. She told me she could do that type of rigorous job.
It is a terrible thing to be lazy. If you are lazy, you will be poor and end up begging. If you are lazy, be prepared to make your home the international headquarters of hunger. A lazy man is a great time-waster. He has no sense of value. If you are lazy, be ready to always be clothed in rags, shame and disgrace. If you are lazy, you cannot serve God. A lazy pastor will prepare his sermons only minutes to the time of taking the message. A lazy believer cannot have time to pray.
“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the Kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force” (Matthew 11:12). From the above scripture, there is no room for a lazy person in God’s kingdom. Although God has promised that you will be the head and above only (Deuteronomy 28:13), laziness can rob you of that exalted position and turn you into a beggar (proverbs 22:7). Laziness and poverty do not glorify God so drop them now. Isaiah 61:6 says, you shall eat the riches of the Gentiles. Revelation 1:6 says, you are a king. What kind of king would go about begging, he wants you to be a ruler. Are you always selecting jobs? Prayerfully take one that will give you time to serve God. Work hard and be diligent like your Father and you will ride with kings (Proverbs 22:29). A poor man cannot lend to nations but a multi-trillionnaire can. You can be on top and remain holy. Some are afraid that wealth will derail their faith in Christ, but poverty is what stops many from attending church services.
MEMORIZE: PROVERBS 20:13 –Love not sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread.
